At Forged Truth, we always consider short stories to be the best showcase for writing talent that lies below the surface, so here’s one or two examples taken from David N.Martin’s ‘Blight and Happiness’ collection which we invite you to read on this site:

Blight opens the collection.  In interviews, the author, David N Martin claims it as his favourite short story.  The ‘Blight and Happiness’ collection closes with a sequel that continues the story of Thomas and Molly.  Read it here.

Helping Hands was one of the first short stories ever written by David N Martin and was short listed for the Fish Short Story Prize in 2001.  It didn’t win, but David always considered it a breakthrough story.  Read it here.
