Short Stories

Short Stories are always indicative of the writing talent that lies below the surface, so here’s one or two by Forged Truth authors that have done well in competitions and such like over the years:

The Walker won the Words With Jam short story prize in 2018.  Read it here.

Of Railways and Machetes was a more recent story (2010 vintage), which won a Short Fuse competition.   Read it here.

Helping Hands was one of the first short stories ever written by David N Martin and was short listed for the Fish Short Story Prize in 2001.  It didn’t win, but David always considered it a breakthrough story.  Read it here.

Taking Emily was originally written as a story called ‘Evil’ in around 2001/2, which just about summed up the atmosphere it was trying to create.  It won a Leicester Writer’s Club Competition and got chosen for the club anthology.  Read it here.

The Skull  won a Leicester Writer’s Club competition back in the last century, and then got rewritten in 2005 and managed to place in the HE Bates 100th Anniversary Short Story competition.  Read it here.
