‘The Typewriterists’ wins the Norman King Award for Fiction, 2025

We’re proud to announce that our first ever publication under the Forged Truth imprint – ‘The Typewriterists’ by David N. Martin – has been awarded the 2025 Norman King Award for Fiction.

The history of the Norman King Award stretches back into the early 1960s. Many famous names have held the trophy. Receiving his award at the LWC Awards Dinner on 6th November, David N. Martin said, ‘I feel so lucky. I was privileged to hold this trophy twenty-five years ago, but back then, I was writing under another name, hiding myself. This time it feels like it’s really mine. Thank you to everyone who’s helped me along the way and kept me going. It’s been a long road.’

Congratulations to David from Forged Truth Publishing. We’re pleased to say that the book continues to receive 5-star praise from reviewers:

“An absorbing and stunningly evocative work of fiction” — Jacob Ross (author of The Bone Readers and winner of the Jhalak Prize).

Engaging, thoughtful, realistic… I loved it” — Chris d’Lacey (author of The Last Dragon Chronicles)

There is a fascinating behind the book interview with author, David N. Martin, on this website, in which David talks about his reflections on the social and industrial history that underpins the book, and his creation of the central characters. If that tweaks your interest, you can buy the book here.

Look out for a promised sequel, which we hope to publish in Spring 2026. Look out on this website for further details and an exact publication date (coming soon).
